Process Building your website should be fun.
With our collaborative, phased process, we’ll lead you from vision to fully designed website in just a few easy steps. You’ll get clear, practical deliverables and updates throughout the project — and have your own dedicated Creative Director and Project Lead to ensure alignment along the way.
Phase 1 The Website Workshop
We’ll kick things off with a 2-hour virtual exploration session led by our Founder & Creative Director, Caroline. She’ll dive into your business and website goals, audience, brand personality, budget, and more. This interactive workshop is similar to hiring an architect to create a blueprint for a new home prior to having the cement poured. It’s critical in laying the right foundation and sets your project up for success. And don’t worry — if you have more questions than answers, that’s ok too! We’re here to help.
Output What you’ll get from our Website Workshop:
A document that includes all of the information we’ll need to write effective website copy – an audience overview, brand values, voice and tone descriptions, mission and vision statements, and key competitive differentiators.
A deck that includes the visual specifications we’ll need to make your site beautiful, including key design elements and font, color, and photo guidelines. We’ll start with what you have and fill in the gaps wherever necessary.
A website structure indicating what content will go where, how pages will be organized, and how users will navigate between pages on the site. You can think of this document as your website floorplan.
A recommendation on what platform to use for your website – Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, WordPress, or something else. We’ll also make suggestions on any third-party tools that would benefit your business and customers.
A guide that translates your website goals into trackable KPIs that we can use to measure website performance over time. We will use this spreadsheet to set up the website in a way that allows us to collect the data we need.
A plan outlining what it will take to implement your Website Workshop blueprint, including timeline and cost. We’ll scope a solution that fits within your target budget.
Phase 2 Implementation
After we finalize your Website Workshop materials, we’ll get to work creating your new site according to the blueprint we established. If you would rather use the Website Workshop materials to build the website yourself, you’re welcome to do that, too!
Our seasoned copywriters will craft the right words for your website. Based on the approved Content Guide from the Website Workshop, we’ll know just the right approach to speak to your customers. Whether it’s only a few pages of copy, an entire overhaul of your existing messaging, or any other content needs, we’ve got you covered. Our copywriting approach is rooted in user experience, branding, and information architecture.
You’ll receive a document with comprehensive website messaging. It will be mapped out based on your approved website structure, so you’ll get a clear understanding of messaging hierarchy and placement.
Design & Development
Next, our design and development team will get to work building your site according to the approved Design Guide, UX Guide, and Platform Guide from the Website Workshop. We’ll build out a logical structure, add stylistic elements, and input copy so it all comes together just the way you want it to. Using a mobile-friendly approach, our team will make sure your site puts its best foot forward no matter the device it’s viewed on.
You’ll get a thoughtfully constructed, on-brand website that wows your customers. We’ll keep the website in “preview” mode so that we can get it just right before it goes live in the next step.
Training & Launch
It’s go time. Once you give us final approval on the website design, we will hit “publish” and share your new website with the world. During this phase, we will set up website hosting, connect your website to a domain (URL), and ensure a solid SEO (Search Engine Optimization) foundation so that your site appears in Google search results. Finally, we’ll provide a tutorial on how to make basic edits to the site yourself.
You’ll get a perfectly polished live website, and the training you need to make basic edits yourself. Prefer us to take care of website edits for you? That works, too – we’re happy to help with as much or as little as you want us to.
Phase 3 Analytics & Support
After go-live, we’ll set up a custom dashboard that allows you to access your website data in a way that’s meaningful and actionable. We’ll use this data to recommend changes that will improve your website and business performance over time. You’ll have the tools you need to make these website changes yourself, but we’re always happy to help, too.
We’ll build a dashboard that tracks website metrics such as contact form submissions or purchases. Each month, we’ll email you an annotated report so you can stay on top of your site performance.
You’ll meet with our Creative Director and Data Expert annually, quarterly, or monthly to discuss trends in your website data and brainstorm ways to improve website performance over time.
Support As Needed
You can make edits to your website yourself, but we are always available to provide design or development support if you need help. We work hard to ensure quick turnaround times, too!
